Empower your equipment with magical runes

The Runecraft System is a core part of character progression in Call of Gjallahorn.
Runes hold powerful enchantments that can be inserted into your equipment to enhance your build and playstyle.

Runecrafting Interface

Rune Slots Overview

Basic Runes (x2) Type-locked; grant core stats like HP, SP, crit, skill cost reduction, size/element bonuses.
Elemental Runes (x1) 3rd slot; boosts elemental damage and elemental resistance.
Advanced Runes (x1) Universal; one per item; powerful effects (e.g., Heal Power, Resilience).

Basic Runes

These runes allow for deep specialization: more HP/SP, reduced skill cost, higher crit rate, damage vs. large enemies, resistances, and more. Each piece of equipment can hold up to two basic runes of the correct type.

Elemental Runes (3rd Slot)

Elemental Runes occupy a dedicated third slot and enhance both your elemental damage and elemental resistances (e.g., Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Holy, Shadow, etc.).
Combine them with Basic and Advanced runes to tailor your build for specific regions, dungeons, or PvP matchups.

Advanced Runes

Advanced runes are rare and extremely powerful. Only one can be equipped per item and they are not restricted by equipment type. Examples include Heal Power (improves healing) and Resilience (reduces incoming damage).

Runes can be safely removed from equipment at any time with the Runes Remover NPC — there is no risk of breaking or losing them.
